Biography
In March 2005, Belzek (vocals) and Likfrost (guitar) decided to form a band of their own. Then Skhol (drums) Wyrd (guitar) and Svartand (bass) came along and the lineup was complete. That was the beginning of it all. They chose the band’s name together : Naastrand. According to Norse Mythology, those who die without honour are struck by death and suffering in that gloomy place. The band deals with the dark aspects of Scandinavian Mythology and with some old forgotten legends.
Naastrand then spent two years composing and working on their songs. All their efforts were finally rewarded since, after encountering a few problems, their first demo entitled “Funeral Moon” and limited to 200 copies eventually came out. The critics are encouraging for a first attempt.
In 2007, Kasvain (keyboards) decided to join the horde. In 2008, Svartand left the band for personal reasons, and Nidhogg came aboard as the band’s new bassist.
Once the lineup was complete and stable, and after years of work, Naastrand began performing it’s first live gigs. Since then, they have already had the opportunity to play with bands such as Svartblut, Blodhemn, Funeral Holocaust, and to perform before Moonsorrow, Tyr, Eluveitie, Korpiklaani and Ensiferum at the Paganfest festival in the Z7 (Pratteln, CH).
At the present time Naastrand is working on new songs for its upcoming album, to take over from Funeral Moon.
